We will miss you.
Olanipekun Adesokan, 83, died on May 29th 2018. Olanikpekun was passionate about his family, about his work, and about his life.
He was a philanthropist who believed in helping both his community and his clients. An outstanding lawyer with over 50 years of experience, Olanipekun was a man of excellence. He made extensive contributions to the development of the legal profession in Nigeria, particularly in the area of Commercial Practice, acting for and advising several multinationals, some of which he served on their board. He was one of the few indigenous Solicitors that pioneered a full-scale corporate and commercial practice post independent Nigeria.
He was also actively involved in the political evolution of Nigeria, as he played a key role in drafting the 1979 Constitution and served as Deputy Speaker of Old Oyo state (incorporating the present Osun State) from 1979 to 1983.
He was also Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters 1991-2001 and Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources 2001-2003 in Oyo State.
We are all beneficiaries of his greatness, as his excellence was contagious.
We mourn his death, but we celebrate his life.
